Midnight Scheme Ashen blades smothered the sod below her bodice as she moved along. Stealthy and quietly. She saw no need in running into the claiming grounds squealing and what not. No, she enjoyed taking her time. Sure, it may take her longer to find a stallion. But, at least she was taking her time, and enjoying it. Right?
A snort escaped the nares of the ebon mare as she wandered along. Whipcord flicking here and there. Yes, she knew where she was. The Claiming Grounds. It was where she needed to be. Of course she felt a tad pathetic. Only because she had to wait around to be claimed. She wasn't fond of it. Shaking the feeling from her-self she tried concentrating on other things. Which, there was nothing.
Pillars brought her bodice to a halt. Twin pools scanned the surrounding terrain. Dial lowered to the sod, as her maw parted. Ivories tore at the sod a few times. Her jaw moving up and down in a chewing motion. Soon giving a shake to her dial she let her optics scan the terrain once more. Nothing. She let out one more snort before going back to grazing. Her auds straining for any sound.

All along, I was searching for, "My Lenore."
Hot summer days, the blazing sun darkening my steel tinted back. Did it really matter? Back on the Islands, it was hot. Hotter than this, for sure, so it really wasn't a big deal to me. The main factor was inhaling the dust into my hardy lungs, becoming infected with whatever the nature threw at me. Half of me cared about the certain death, part of me didn't. What a hard knock life, eh? I'd received worse, so, it wasn't that bad to my small build. I could almost feel myself moving on auto-pilot, towards the falls. Oh, wait, I actually was walking out there. Towards my little hide-out, perched at the top of the falls. Did I really have to go up there today? I would be closer to the sun, and that was something that I didn't desire.
So I didn't go there today. Something drew me back, and I ended up, wandering around smoothly at a natural pace. Faster than a trot, like a slow lope. In spite of my blood, my crown was held high. It was held in what some would mistake for an arrogant glance, but it was far less than that. It was raised, neck arched, tassels set in it's original carriage. Blue-green tinted eyes searched the terrain for any followers. Of course, nothing. Not a single sound was heard, so why waste the energy and keep going? My pace slowed, shoulders moving easily as I strode around. I finally caught a sight of some civilization. A lone female stood, grazing. She raised her crown; did she see me? Well, no bother.
I began to advance towards her. I didn't smile, I didn't scowl. I just, looked at her. Once within earshot, only a few yards away, I took my final steps, and spoke. Halting, I looked at her, one corner of my mouth lifting into a smile.
"Hello, I'm Riku. You don't seem like your having much fun."
Just some small talk. My voice was emitted in a calm tone, my pools glancing at her, then at the grass she uprooted to eat. Quietly, my crown raised up again, and I watched her. Two responses could come from her. A cold shoulder, and no words, or a kind, sweet reply. He hoped for the latter.

A snort escaped the nares of the mare. Her ivories contently tearing at the sod. Whipcord swaying side to side contently. Her mind tried to ease the thoughts that were jumbling inside her head. Audits twitched irritably at the heat, but she didn't feel like using the energy to find a shady place. So, she'd stand here and be teased by the hot rays of the sun.
Dial was lifted at the sound of another equines voice. A deeper tone, which gave the clue that it was a stag. Autumn shaded pools glanced up and took in the brute that stood before her. Riku. She stored the name inside her head. She'd do her best to remember his name. At the moment she was a bit scattered brained. "Riku." She mumbled the name a loud. Maybe, it'd help her remember the name. Right? Giving a shake of her dial she focused her attention back on him. She may as well give her name too. "Hello Riku, I'm Scheme." She returned the greeting. Of course shortening up her name.
"And indeed your right. Standing around, alone, in the heat is not enjoyable in my book." She told him. Her velvets turning up at the edges, to form a small smile. Autumn pools still rested upon him along with her auds.

In the words of Mr. Edgar Allen Poe.
Auduals slowly tuned into her words. She spoke my name, as if trying to remember it. I did that, a lot. The smile on my facial features grew slightly, one cornering lifting. At least that was one thing we had in common. She spoke again, a common greeting. So her name was Scheme. Silently, my mouth formed her names, saying it over and over again. Until it was laced up in his mind, he would forget, or butcher her name. That was always a mistake on his part. Blue-green tinted eyes continued to remain on Scheme, his crown nodding slowly.
"Pleasure to meet you, Scheme."
The words were spoken slowly, effeciently. I didn't want to screw this up, not more than he already had since being here. Even as the summer winds blew a layer of sand onto me, covering my coat, some of it entering my eyes, irritating them, I didn't move. I just blinked, and listened to Scheme speak. A small laugh left my mouth, the tone almost melodious; so soft, so caring. After blinking, I squinted, and shook my dished crown, as if I couldn't believe it. I still agreed with her though. I watched her for a moment more, before turning to stare at where my new home was. Black Lake, a home only set for the darkest of horses. It didn't suit me at all. At least not this side of me anyway. It suited Xehanort perfectly well. And for now, I suppose it'd have to do. Sighing, I looked back at Scheme and spoke.
"Well, at least you aren't alone. I don't mean to be so direct, but I want to refrain from standing in the sun much longer. Is there anything you'd like to know? I can also take you to my home, for now until the sun leaves."
Wow, so forward Riku. I sighed, my jaw clenching together as the sun seemed to glow brighter. I wanted to growl, and shrivel up, but she was also here too, and she seemed to be doing fine, so I needed to suck it up and stand still.

Whipcord continued to swing lazily side to side. Brushing at her flanks as she watched him. Audits listened as he laughed lightly at her comment. Her smile still laced upon her velvets. She gave a small shake of her dial, trying to remove the sand that was blown into her forelock and banner.
Her thoughts wandered off once more as a short silence fell between the two. Her optics finally were drawn off him and stared off into space. Her mind still racing with thoughts on what had gone on over the couple of months. His words broke her thoughts, and she gave a shake of her dial. Focusing in on what he was saying. Home. That's what she need right now.
"Riku, I'll take your offer. As for the questions, nothing comes to my mind at the moment." Her words were soft and careful. She didn't want to seem needy, that's what most mares were when they were here. As you have probably figured, Scheme wasn't a needy one. She wanted company here and there, otherwise she'd be fine on her own. Though, she did enjoy an equine in view. Just, so she didn't feel entirely alone. Because who likes to be entirely alone?
Optics soon wandered back to Riku. She had noticed that she had spoken her words without looking at him. She had been zoning out and staring off into space. Her auds rested upon the brute before her.
A small sigh escaped the ebon fae. The heat was brutally torturing her at the moment. It's rays burning onto her flesh. She indeed wanted to trot off into some kind of shade or any kind of water source. She gave a nod to her-self as she thought about it. It would feel quite refreshing. She gave a small shake to her dial. Once again, the mare had zoned off. She returned her attention to Riku and awaited for him to speak or lead the way.
