My fav classical play is Antigone by Sophocles. I figure it may be interesting for MA as well. There was a king that had a son with malformed feet. that king hated his son and left him to die. A wise man found him and raised the boy up as his own son. When the son grew up, he came back to the land where the king lived, and mistaking the king for a robber, the boy killed him. When they found the body, no one knew who killed their king. They had heard of a brave boy, who, by this time a man, would make an excellent king. They crowned him and married him to the queen, and no one knew that they were mother and son. They had a daughter together. One day, after a talk with her king, the queen found out that he was her son! She was very distraught and killed herself. The people discovered what had happened and they exiled the king. He died eventually of sadness. The daughter of them falls in love with a prince of a neighboring land. The prince's father opposes the match. The aforesaid daughter has a child with the prince, and then things start to heat up and the king of that nearby land orders his daughter-in-law death. The prince, after hearing that his father killed her, kills himself. Best part in it is when the grandfather of the new child says as he looks at his son's body: Sirs, ye behold the slayer and the slain. Such is the end my schemes unblessed have won, by a boy's blow, undone, undone! For you have died, have willed to go, and I was all to blame, not you, my son, my son.
And there you have 5 deaths; it is a tragedy play.

You say spice things up, well here are my ideas.
A natural disaster or plague epidemic swipes through both the dark and light lands, in the midst of horses dying, the kings will take all the mares they can steal from any of the other lands. Let it be other dark lands or other lights lands. Here's the catch, to steal a mare, they must have at least one of their herd members die from the disaster for each stolen mare and pose a riddling question.
So here's how it would go, there's plague/tornado. A king goes to another land, proposes that he wants to steal a mare/stallion/foal, says who is being killed from his herd, and the riddle.
If guessed wrong by the other king, the other stallion's herd member dies and he gets to keep his captive. If guessed right, the horse is not stolen and it will be up to admin if the herd member still dies.
Looking answers up online should result in automatic keeping and death of horses.
Good way to get rid of horses you want and to take horses that your king/queen wants that's in another land. ^^
I personally like this plot and think it would play out nicely. Yes, each herd would have a thread where the hole herd is played out in, with people playing out characters that are getting sick or being tossed away by the storms. The riddle threads don't have to be all fancy and in character, but not in total out of character.

O yes, #2. I couldn't help wanting to express this idea. There could be an eclipse and then diff equines take it differently,(omens, etc...) and that could be the start of new religions on MA. Some darks may take it as meaning that darkness will overcome light. Lights could take it as a sign that the gods are angry at equines behavior.

Well, seeing as the banner says "Let the War begin..." I'm pretty sure a war plot would go along quite nicely. That's my personal opinion, though. Perhaps the dark horses decide they don't want to share lands with the light horses anymore. They want the fertile, and the infertile, lands that the lights own, along with all of their mares for their personal slaves. Perhaps a particular king takes charge and calls all of the dark horses together to discuss this, promising prosperity if the lights can be taken down. Perhaps also the other kings aren't too happy about this one king taking charge and there can be some inner conspiring. The lights catch wind of a plan to invade their lands and have to work together to save themselves, trying to get the neutral horses on their side. Of course, they haven't spoken to each other in years so it is mighty difficult to band together.
Epic warness, we can have a vote to decide who wins, maybe? If the lights win, it's not happily ever after. The darks go into hiding to nurse their wounds and work on their next plan. If the darks win, the lights have to form rebel groups and fight to take back their lands.
That's just my humble idea, feel free to throw eggs and other raw food at it. [/center]

hm. A plot I hear you say? *thinks* I have some ideas...
1. Instead of the dark horses starting all the bad stuff for a change, how about a light king wanting to iradicate the darks for good. One less pain to worry about right? Lets say that this light king gets so power struck by his own ideas that anyone who confronts him, is punished. A small group of horses, some gifted? (or not) decide to bring the light king back to his senses. They say that the dark horses, despite their horrible ways have a right to exsistance, just like the lights. This group is banished, and they argue whether to warn the darks. Which is naturally very dangerous. Will the darks kill them for enroaching on their land? Will they kill/enslave them for saying such a thing? Or will they heed the warning and confront the king?
2. Twins are born. Two colts. A rare occurance, since mares are not designed to carry two offspring. The light mare naturally cannot cope with two foals. And there for abondons one foal. This foal, who is seen straggling across the landscape is taken in by a dark mare on a good day. Of course they fill his head with dark thoughts, and when he is fully grown he goes to seek revenge on the herd that abondoned him. Alas he mets a mare. So elegant and composed in her ways. Will she be enough to stop him from his killing rampage?
3. A band of bachelors are on the run, there young, strong, and uncontrollable. They know there much stronger in one big group. Why split up and create little herds? Why can't we just create a super herd. Naturally violence ensues for dominance within the herd, for mares and land. Who will be able to break up the band of brothers from causing chaos?
