Mud caked itself to her once gleaming pelt. She felt it crack and flake as she moved. The tips of her flowing locks still showed signs of being burnt. The smell of the fire still lingered in her nairs. How she wasn't sure. It had been over a month since the fire sent into the world. Perhaps it was her imagination playing tricks on her. Her head hung low as she step slowly towards the edge of the dark woods. The trees loomed high over her. The bright sunlight seemed to be swallowed by their dark leaves. The dark ground muffled all sound. A quiet place at last. Perhaps she could find a solace amidst the quiet and the dark.
She stepped lightly, lifting her thin legs high as she moved between the trees. The musty smells of the dead leaves of the past fall surrounded her. It was strange. The smell comforted her. She felt her tense muscle starting to relax. Her thoughts drifted as her brilliant pools surveyed the land. Who might be the Master of this land? She pondered quietly. Pausing for a moment, she twisted her ears to listen for signs of life. Hearing none she continued to wander deeper into the wood. She could smell the faint scent of other equines mixed into the other scents of the woods. She knew others were here but why couldn't she find them. She was tired of being alone. It had been weeks since she had seen another equine. A heavy sigh escaped her small frame. She needed a place to rest.
Feeling her feet get heavy, she continued to wander. Spotting a small patch of shrubs she moved quickly towards them and let her body collapse under them. Resting her head gently on her legs, she closed her deep pools to drift off to a place of peace.
