“…You can’t take me. I’m free.” Black velvety nares widened and contracted with the breaths that the ebony figure took. Was there really a reason she had chosen to come here instead of being claimed by a stallion like most other mares? Well yes and no. Yes because at the moment she did not want to have to deal with the arrogance that seemed to surround most of the stags of her alignment. They surely seemed full of themselves most of the time. And if it wasn’t that they were unusually cruel. Tazanna had to admit. That even though she was a dark, there was a slightly softer side, and she did not want to have to fight for her life at this current time.
The mare paced along the very edges of the land called Moonglade. She had been warned not to enter directly. It would cause immediate discipline. Taz stopped her movement and stood with the tips of her front hooves on the edge of the area. Who was it again that she needed to ask for? Oh she couldn’t remember. Names are fickle things that can change with the wind. The fea’s train swished back and forth in slight irritation. A strong pillar struck at the ground as her hoof dug at the soil. “I call on however is in charge of this here land!” her voice called to the wind. Ebony orbs stared determinately into the space ahead of her, as thorns swiveled and rotated to cup any sound that would come forth from the area.

Be careful what you wish for I wandered. Almost aimlessly, across the lands, slowly making my way back to the perimeter of Moonglade, to take up my place once more. There had been a small meeting earlier that day, but not all had turned up. The land was quiet at most times, but it often took time for mares here to come out of their shells. Everyone had a past behind them and it often haunted the residents. although Moonglade was a place of peace and serenity, not even the mystical powers of the realm could tempt the wounded. My large build, muscular frame stood tall, even for my breed. I was 17.1hh of pure Friesian blood. I was proud of it, and proud i had found a 'mate' to re-produce with me and bring out an excellent colt, Asylum. He was six months old now, growing up quickly, he was confident, bolshy and i doubted he would stick around the place for much longer. I hadn't seen Drezex, my mate for some time now. Not that i was complaining, all he was to me was a father. We only had stallions in Moonglade for breeding purposes, no other. I broke into a steady, even two beat pace as the summer breeze whisked me forward, propelling my pillars across the ground in graceful, yet heavy thuds. My long, crimped forlock spun away from my face; revealing the horrifiying scar that run from my forehead, down over my right eye, and along the side of my face, stopping at my muzzle. This frightened most equines, i even saw the herd members flinch a little when approched. I didn't dislike the scar, it was part of me, part of my past, it defined who i really was...a warriorMy audits pricked forward and opticals widened slightly as i slowed from my jog to a halt, in a soft motion. Skull raised a little more to catch the words the wind carried, and my muscular neck arched slightly. Someone new.. I gave a deep snort and dipped my crown, starting off in a fast canter across to the border, tail kinked as it flung out behind me, head moving in motion with the wind, strong thick pillars made me reach the caller in no time; and i slowed from my run down to a trot as i neared her. "I am Chiron, Warrior and protector of these lands. State your name and purpose in these lands." I called to her. My voice dominating, so powerful and almost death-like. I blinked, slowing to a walk and walking closer to the mare, my amber eyes gave a flash of danger to the newcomer, if she didn't tell me what i needed to know, it would be over for her. "...You can't take me. I'm Free." The dark hued mare took a few hesitant steps backwards as the large warrior like equine came galloping towards her. Tazanna was tuff, but there was no way on earth that if the beast so choose to take her life would she be able to stop the judgment. However the fea quickly regained her composure and tucked her chin into her chest, in an attempt to make herself only seem more intimidating. Which might have been a mistake, but one easily camouflaged.
When the other mare came to a halt, the Friesian’s boa loosen its constricted arch into an leisurely bow of the cranium. Greeting the warrior after she had introduced herself. “I am Tazanna. And like many mares in this sanctuary I only seek a place to call home.” Should Chiron need more information than that all that need be done is ask. But Taz liked to keep her answers short, sweet and to the point. Made speaking all the easier.
History was but a thing of the past. Each animal had their own story to tell, with their own memories to add to past events. But yet the ones with the greatest disasters and heartaches seemed to congregate to this one place. A safe haven, a refuge, paradise.

Be careful what you wish for Already, iliked the fact she was a pure blood, much like myself. There wasn't many around and to be honest...i wasn't a fan of crossbreeding. Call me snobby, i couldn't care less. I walked forward so the space between us wasn't great and kept my cold glare on her. I found it was best to 'intimidate' the newcomers, just to let them know that this was no way a joke. I forced a loud snort down my nostrils as she backed up, but regained her proud posture and bowed. I gave a firm nod but kept my cold glare on her. Audits flicked forward at her words and i nodded once more. "Ah, Tazanna. Well it seems you have some sort of damaged past, otherwise the magic of the land would not of allowed you further than the border...but please, it is compulsery to tell me more; how you got here, your past and all.." i told her in a bold voice, licking at my muzzle as the wind shifted my long crimped forlock out of my face so my large scar was visable. "...You can't take me. I'm Free."
As the red mare stepped closer to her, Taz tossed her head and took a hesitant step backwards. Though on the inside her heart was crying for her to stand her ground, but common sense knew better. She tucked her chin in to her chest, before tossing her lock ebony tendrils out of her face. That’s when she noticed the female in front of her donned a rather ragged looking scar. Seemed like her past was far worse than her was. Though most of the time her past was kept secret from those around her, this time was an exception. Her heart was dark and hollow because of what had happened. But on to the explanation.
A snort escaped her velvety nostrils. “I’m here because I heard of a safe haven, and wished to dwell without the worries that usually followed entering a new land.” The black one’s jaws clenched tight as she continued, bracing herself to tell of her past.
“Well if you must know my past, I shall tell you… Brutes are evil animals. I remember it just like it was yesterday. Things had been fine and wonderful, until they had decided to turn upon my father. The head Stallion was sought out and challenged. But it was not a very fair fight, five against one, but father refused to back down. The cruel creatures struck him down, and I was there to witness the entire event. If it weren’t for the speed and cunning of my mother, we would have suffered the same fate.” Her dark eyes narrowed at the memory. “The hatred was so thick in the air that you could have almost tasted it. Yet we did nothing wrong. And still the younger stallions wanted to pound us into the ground.”
Tazanna again shook her head, trying to rid it of the thoughts and visions that filled her mind of the events that lead to the extinction of her father’s herd. The hurt and sorry etched across her mother’s face was a constant imprint in her mind. Oh how she hated them all for the torture. “Should I elaborate on any of the details?” her voice was smooth, a complete contrast to the torrent of memories flaying through her head.
