The lightning seemed to be the only light guiding the ebonite demoness towards her destination. She was hoping to find something nice to eat, eargo clover or fresh grass but to her cloud-gray opticals the summer heat had dried up the green sprouts and also her favourite sources of water, so she had trekked dangerously through the light and dark lands in search of some nice food to satisfy her hunger and fill out her 'skin-and-bones' physic. From exhaustion, the mare fell to the earth with a violent shudder of pain and hunger and just lay there. She wouldn't give into death yet, being trained her whole life as a warrior had brought out her inner spirit and fight.
Lazily she lay her cerebrum down on the earth below her, harks barely moving to catch the sounds of the wolves sounding a feast or the buzzards cawing from above. She'd fight the best she could laying down, it would take a miracle for her to scramble to her feet and trample them like she'd been trained. Optics glazed over as she closed them, drifting in and out of sleeping and death. If she wasn't found, she'd die or die trying to live.

Arian leaned forward abruptly from where he stood. A mare. Oh, how he hated this summer drying out the world! Fall would be heaven compared to that tormenting sun. The gray dashed out of the bush quickly. Who was it? He stopped close by, about six feet away from the onyx essa. I am Arian. May I know who you are? voiced the gray stallion. He gazed at her scrutinizingly. The mare sure didn't look happy. She looked the very picture of thirst and hunger to Arian. The sun hovered over the clearing. It proclaimed that at last summer had come, bringing heatstroke risk to all.
