Elizabeth It's too bad you're lonely, 'cause I'm alright as long as I'm with you
Nostrils flaring, she galloped down the scorched plane, hooves lifting high as they tore themselves out of the putrid mud that clung to her heels. She'd been searching for a long time, and her sides heaved from the exhertion, froth flicking from her gaping mouth, but she wouldn't let herself stop yet. She didn't want to. She knew she had to be close, she just had to keep on going-!
The breeze whipped through her toussled mane, the cream strands of hair choked with leaves and twigs from her forced journey through the surrounding forests, where the shadows had loomed up from every side, where her panic had roiled and risen through her veins before she'd been able to get a grip on her rampant emotions. She'd known, known what she was going to face, but she'd decided to go anyway, and she was never one to backdown on her own actions. She'd always forced herself to acknowledge the consequences of her decisions, and this was one she'd full heartedly tackle until it threw her down, goddammit, and that was the end of it.
Nevertheless, a strangled whinny of fear broke instinctively from her lips as one of her feet slipped into a slightly deeper well of water, splashing the filthy muck across her matted ginger hide. Tossing her head, she resisted the urge to rear and skitter away, instead stumbling on forward and out, slowing her pace out of neccessity as the landscape grew slowly less boggy. Her skin crawled at the feel of the stagnent water sinking through her fur, but she had no time to stop, never any time to stop. Through the stench of the mires, she almost could catch his faint scent, overwhelmed as it was by the rotting water reeds and fish corpses, just as they'd promised. Screw the darkness, screw how horrible this damned place was- Zander was waiting. She could do little else but come. Neh, not so happy with it, but it'll do for the time being.
Zander is no way near, btw. ;D Poor girl. Open!

ACE OF SPADES
If you feel so filthy So dirty so fucked up If you feel so walked on So painful so pissed off You're not the only one Refusing to go down You're not the only one So get up Let's start a riot
"What are you doing, You little worthless shit!" Azazel demanded as Ace tried to muzzle Azazel. "What does it look like I'm doing, You bitch!" Ace snapped, Snarling at Azazel as he tried to finish muzzling Azazel. The dark dark black stallion snarled at Ace as he whipped his head and the left horn on his head made a pretty large and deep wound that was soon bleeding rapidly. "Look what you did! What the hell did you do that? You're being a total asshole!" Ace said, A snarl rippled through his throat and cut right into Azazel. Azazel bared his teeth and with one swift movement of his horned head, He had managed to rip a pretty big patch of skin off Ace's withers. Ace gasped in pain and snarls ripped their way out of his throat as he bucked the air. 'Shut up! Get moving, Your slower than my demon friends, Those lazy fucks' Azazel said, Clearly bored. Ace snarled at him, His snarl was more like a small moan or groan of pain. "Shut up, I'll go what ever pace I fucking desire!" Ace snapped, His voice louder than usual. Azazel growled and turned his horned head away from Ace as the shinny yet blood buckskin stallion made his way to Dream Falls to find a lady friend. Ace looked around as he walked forward, Azazel was growling in his ear and he almost ripped his head off. Luckily, Ace just so happened to spot a golden beauty just standing there. 'Look at that hot thing! Mind if I take her under my wing?' Azazel asked joking around with Ace. Ace wasn't paying attention, All he was doing was staring at the beautiful mare that was a few feet away from him. 'Are you deaf, Lover boy?' Azazel demanded from Ace. "Fuck off you bastard! I'm trying to get a girl" Ace snarled in a low and harsh whispers. ace walked forward to the golden mare that was just standing all alone with no company. "Need some company, Darling?" Ace asked her, Grinning at her as he flirted with her. What would she think of Ace flirting with her? Only she knew the answer to that question and he couldn't read anyone's fucking mind like some lunatic thought they could. He just looked at the mare and he flashed her a sexy grin.

Elizabeth But you said I'm out on a ledge come stand with me. I need the company I need the company. Panting, she halted for the night under the comforting shadow of a set of oaks at the edge of yet another forest, the soft trickle of a brook winding just a few yards away the only other sound that filled the silence. Exhaustion clung to her bones, weighing down her neck. He was not here, and she didn't know what to do anymore.
She crept slowly towards the water to drink, abandoning for the moment any pretense of caution, because for the gods' sake - she was out of any dangerous pastures, that she could smell. Beyond that, who cared?
Zander, Zander, Zander.
She could hardly keep his face out of her head, despite how long it had been since she last saw him.
Lowering her head, she sloppily drank her fill before stepping back towards the shade of the trees. They were broad, probably near a century old, she noted, slipping beneath their shadows and nudging the leaves of the closest with her muzzle. The smell of early summer rain and acorns filled her nostrils as she examined them with a slightly bloodshot, hazle eye, and the scent comforted her, reminding her of better times and places. There'd been oak trees surrounding her old home, and she remembered them distinctly - they'd been budding their new leaves when she'd come of age, and had shed them while she'd given birth, filling the clearing with this very same smell, scattering acorns like cherry blossom. The memory twanged through her thoughts and chest, and she pushed it away for the time being, not welcoming the reminder. There were other things to worry about, now, and there was no use dwelling on the past.
As much as it hurt, he was gone, (she'd known it before she'd even left but she'd hoped, always hoped) and she had to let him go.
Again.
The sudden sound of hoofbeats to her left startled her out of her reverie, and she started in surprise, ears flicking back as she quickly faced whatever was approaching. The dying sun was beating down unrelentlessly through the edges of the trees, despite the leaves' best efforts to capture it, and it half-blinded her, preventing her from identifying those who approached until they were literally meters away. Forcing her tired muscles into action, she shifted into an as protective a stance as she could manage as two stallions pushed through the low forest foiliage towards her, their hard hooves sinking into the moss-choked earth.
"Need some company, darling?" the buckspin spoke, teeth baring in a slightly feral, animal grin.
Elizabeth regarded him warily, gaze quickly noting the scores against his neck and whithers that still bled in the afternoon light, the crimson stark against his buckskin coat. Tattered streamers of sunlight fought their way through the leaves to play across his powerful frame, highlighting the muscles that rippled across it as he stepped confidently closer, the darker, oddly horned stallion regarding her with black, empty eyes from behind him.
she was no fool.
"I'm no darling," she assured him with a small smile, slowly relaxing. "But company would be welcome."
this time. Sorry for the wait! Had a really busy weekend. x3

ACE OF SPADES
If you feel so filthy So dirty so fucked up If you feel so walked on So painful so pissed off You're not the only one Refusing to go down You're not the only one So get up Let's start a riot
Azazel was glaring at the back of Ace's head and he wanted to strangle the really dark black horned stallion that stood behind him. 'What the hell are you waiting for you coward? I will snap her up and kill her if you don't claim her, i'm starving for some mare's blood. I have a certain lust for this little beauty' Azazel said as he licked his blood lips and stepped forward and out from behind the buckskin stallion that stood before him. 'Hello, I'm Azazel and may I just say, Your blood smells delicious and I just want you right now' Azazel said as he walked right up to the mare and stopped right in front of her. Ace snarled and he stepped forward to shove Azazel out of the way. Ace walked pass Azazel and he shoved the rammed stallion out of the way so the black stallion wouldn't try to kill the beautiful mare before the two. "I'm sorry, Azazel is a demon who I am trying to get rid of but I will protect you from him, That is if you want me to" Ace said as Azazel hit the ground with a hard thump. The black horned stallion snarled and he charged at Ace, His head down and his horns aimed for Ace's buckskin withers. The stallions horns pierced right through Ace's skin and he let out a little whimper as the blood started to drip out of the wound and onto the ground, Quickly making a small puddle of crimson liquid. Ace snarled at the horned stallion but ignored him as he looked into the mare's eyes. "I'm Ace, By the way"
Ace said, Introducing himself as he dealt with the pain of the open wound that was bleeding on his withers. What would this mare think of his wounds and the demon that has him head to toe in his grips? Azazel's speechAce's speech[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Elizabeth I'm trying to be brave I'm trying to be brave But you're listening to ever word I say The black stallion muscled his way forward, blood dripping from his twisted horns onto his matted forelock and slipping, slowly, down his jet black skin to his wide, mad eyes, mixing into his tear ducts as he stalked steadily forward, a cruel grin splitting, horrifically across his features as he came closer- coming for her- She barely had time to blink before he was inches away, right leg practically pressed against hers, the gentle wafts of breath from his nose brushing lightly against the side of her neck. She froze, fear dead in her chest, a shiver steadily trembling down her back as he took a long, relaxed sniff, the heat of his body wrong against her.
"Hello, I'm Azazel, and may I just say," he murmured, drawing back to meet her gaze, her own drawn almost inevitably into his empty depths, almost completely black if it weren't for the slight streaks of grey that swirled lazily around the iris, "your blood smells delicious and I just want you right now."
Steeling herself, she dragged her gaze away, fighting the desperate urge to flee- she couldn't be afraid, even though by god she was, but she was stronger than this. She knew she knew she knew- her legs trembled, she fought it away-
I am not afraid of you
-A snarl, and a whirl of colour, the buckskin stallion charging into the other's side and shoving him away, placing himself between them.
"I'm sorry," the buckskin panted, tossing his neck to shake the hair from his eyes, "Azazel is a demon who I am trying to get rid of but I will protect you from him; that is, if you want me to." He glanced briefly at her from the side of his eye, a rueful grin tweaking his lips, before the other horse, enraged, attacked him from the other side, the demon's head lowered as he slashed brutally with his horns. Elizabeth flinched as the buckskin whimpered in pain, rearing his neck backwards to growl and snap the other away, before he shifted himself to the left until he could tend his wound while keeping an eye on the black stallion, licking at his withers halfheartedly.
"I'm Ace, by the way," he said, raising his head briefly to catch her eye. Elizabeth watched mutely as he turned back to his wound, attempting to compute the situation, all the while watching the demon warily from the corner of her eye. He'd backed off after his initial charge and was pacing slowly around the edge of the clearing, circling like a disgruntled raven, snorting as he tramped through the dry grass and leaves.
She had no idea what she'd gotten herself into.
It had been a long time since she'd heard the stories of the angels and demons, the haunting bedtime tales designed to keep foals close after night-fall. She'd even - ha, of course - relayed them to Zander in her time, whispered them as the sun set under the smoothed edges of the distant mountains. The angels were the winged-borne, epitomes of light and perfection, but also of fear, and the demons... They encompassed fire, pain, and desire. Neither could live without the other, just as a horse could not live without breath, but...
She couldn't remember how the story ended. Just that it was long and sad.
She looked at the stallion and the tortured guardian angel that perched on his shoulder, as terrifying as they were.
But.
They were something.
Stepping forward, she slipped carefully closer and, nudging the buckskin's muzzle out of the way, leant forward and began to lick the wound clean, ignoring the soft metallic tang that filled her mouth as a result.
"Elizabeth."
(She'd always enjoyed a challenge, and the inquisitive will always find what they seek) Gaaaah. If I screwed up the characterisation, let me know immediately, I know I can go more than a little overboard. And sorry for writing so much! I'm having a little difficulty finding the character, but I think I have her now. She is a very inquisitive person. x3

ACE OF SPADES
If you feel so filthy So dirty so fucked up If you feel so walked on So painful so pissed off You're not the only one Refusing to go down You're not the only one So get up Let's start a riot
Ace grinned at Elizabeth as Azazel disappeared back into his brain, Going deeper and deeper until Ace couldn't hear him anymore. Ace felt the flutter of a million butterflies trying to escape from his stomach. What was this feeling anyway? Ace's wound tingled as Elizabeth traced over his wound, Licking it clean so it wouldn't get infected. "Elizabeth . . ." He whispered in her ear, Testing out the sound of her beautiful name on his tongue as he licked her forehead affectionately. Would she be creeped out by him just suddenly licking her forehead? Ace blushed a deep red and looked into her eyes, Those gorgeous eyes. "I'm sorry if you don't want me to lick your forehead. I got caught up in the moment" He said, Blushing even deeper. "So . . . Elizabeth, Do you have a mate yet?" Ace asked her, Wondering if he could be her mate if she didn't have one. Since it was fall, He could ask her if she wanted to carry his spawn. That would sound a little weird but he had to see if she liked him first. Does she like him or not? Maybe. Maybe not.

Elizabeth It's easier to lie and be safe Time and time again I'm half stalled One giant leap of faith is easy When everyone you ask is so sure
Just give a second thought What if we don't get caught "Elizabeth."
A shiver crept down her spine at the feel of his rough tongue on her forehead, and she finished her job and took a single step back, her beat picking up a faster pace and catching her breath. He gazed at her unwaveringly, black eyes enflamed - she could sense a flicker of something else within them, something darker, dangerous - Azazel's presense still haunting her from beyond sight, but she didn't look away. She didn't want to.
(stubborn to the last)
"I'm sorry if you don't want me to lick your forehead. I got caught up in the moment," he said, a blush creeping across the light skin of his cheeks. She smiled at that, a similar one colouring her own, marvelling at her own emotions. She was starting to like this stallion, the young buckskin's eccentric charm appealing to her in some odd manner (she didn't know, she'd never know the true instincts that drove her, under her tampered skin). "So . . . Elizabeth, Do you have a mate yet?"
She shook her head, gaze slipping from his and her mane tangled even worse across her neck. The words bought a sudden, bitter surge of memories and she clamped them down, pushing them desperately towards the back of her mind, fighting the flow. Not now, not here, not when she was trying to move on-
A soft, tiny nose nudging at her underbelly, pushed upwards by uneven feet-
"No," she forced out, a little of her pain clogging her throat.
Steel grey eyes fixed on her beneath a tattered forelock, calm and yet aggrivated, words screamed silently across the void toward her.
"I don't."
She switched her weight to left side, gritting her teeth as her chest tore its hastily sown stitches and bled freely from invisible wounds.
He was gone, forever so.
She would never see him again.
(The thief slips into the deadened house, breaking the latch and leaving the front door wide, twisted garotte in hand)
(grief is cruel)
