So this was it huh? A large heart thundered away with in the stallion’s chest. Black nares expanded and contracted in rhythm with his powerful breathing. Puffs of silver clouds rose into the frigged air and then rolled away from the form as it moved along the topography. Jericho had never been to the Battlegrounds, but there was a first time for everything. There was some crisp snow barely covering the land. It would have been pretty if his mind was not clouded by other thoughts. The liver chestnut had followed Erebus to this part of the land for a reason.
Mahogany eyes scanned the vicinity trying to pin point his opponent’s position. And it did not take too long. The canter that his frame had been moving at started to slow down. His approach to the other stallion was at a slow two beated jog. Audatives were pinned tightly against his cerebrum; they would remain that way through most of this ordeal. The bronc’s neck was vaulted so that his chin touched his chest, as the muscles beneath the brown pelt tensed. It really was time to get this done and over with. ‘Let the game begin.’
His forward motion stopped only a foot or so away from the other animal. The masculine sprung his forelimbs into the air, rearing but not to his fullest height. Back pillars danced, careful not to slip on the frosted ground, so that Jer’s body was parallel with Erebus’s. Jaws parted to expose the equine’s fangs as his nape uncoiled and lunged towards the crest of the other stallion’s neck. He hoped to latch upon the brute’s coat. If it worked it would leave a nice gash upon Erebus, and pull his body weight down as Jericho’s upper limbs landed back down on the ground.
Words: 302 Comments: »I just started it. If that don’t work for you let me know and I’ll change it. »I agree with all the conditions.

>erebus< My pace had remained even throughout the entire journey, wasting time so that the battlegrounds were cast in the mid-morning sun; adding a silver sheen to the surface of the snow. A quick glance was thrown behind me, noting the clear trail of half-crescent steps I left in my wake. He'd have no trouble finding the place if he used his senses, I couldn't be bothered to guide my challenger to the event. That wouldn't make much sense from my point of view. My head lifted slowly as I came to a gentle halt, narels expanding as the scent of blood and gore swirled around me, clogging my senses momentarily. I thrusted a heavy rush of carbon out of my narel, clearing my nasal passage and unfogging the receptors of my nose. The liver stallion wasn't far behind.
A quick glance was sent towards the hovering sun; lids squinting against the brightness. Looking away from the burning ball of gas, my lids slide open the full way; pupils dilating to let back in the light that wasn't needed a moment ago. My hinds planted as I swiveled around to face myself in a different direction; pausing long enough to search the area, before continuing on in the circle, ending only once I had completed a total three-sixty. No sign of him yet. I most likely had two, three minutes tops before he swooped upon me with tooth and hoof. Images flashed before my eyes as I swayed gently with the breeze, peaceful in all sense of one with the world. The tension eased out of my shoulders as I continued the relaxation method; taking soothing breaths, lowering my heart rate to one that I would have if I was resting. All this was for a purpose.
The wind whistled in my upturned ears as the breeze shook the trees, there branches scraping against one another. Jericho was here. My scull turned in his direction; my posture keeping its relaxed nature. I was unwilling to tense up, to make my heartbeat skyrocket. Not until it was absolutely needed; it would help lessen the bleeding, but I would still bleed profoundly if struck. I remained broadside to him; only to pivot at the last second to come head along before him, sidling backwards a step as he thrust his fore self above me; the distance wasn't enough. I grimaced as his ivories latched themselves into my flesh, the searing pain about midway down the top of my neck. My heartbeat fluttered as I thought threw the counter moves I could make; and there was only one that came to the front of my mind. I tensed my haunches, using them as a fulcrum to push me up wards, halfway through the rear I swung myself towards him, feeling the flesh around his bite mark tear more. If this attack was successful, it would at least get him off of me, if not impair the range of motion his shoulder had, but my main hope was getting his ivories out of me.

Incisors sunk into flesh, and instantly the taste of blood filled the bronc’s mouth. It was such a horrid taste, like licking a copper tube. How darks craved the tang of this crimson liquid was completely beyond him. Still his attack had worked. Well sort of. Jer managed to get a hold of the brute, but not drag him down to the ground like he planned. As his forelimbs had begun to shift towards the earth Erebus angled his body into the air, pulling the liver chestnut’s head along with him. Mid way through Erebus’s rear he shoved himself towards the dark red stallion.
As the other male jerked his neck higher, Jericho’s grip upon his nape began to slip away. But not before most of his opponent’s body weight was heaved against his right shoulder pushing him away. Jamming the joints and stunning the muscles beneath. Finally with that blow, Jer let go and gingerly returned to stand upon all four. The ache in his scapula was already starting to build. Well that’s just great. It would hinder the speed of his movements and only get in the way. A slight wince played across his face as a throb pulsed through the injured area.
Now the two were face to face it seemed. This did not give him a variety of attacks that could be placed. Within an instant one swooped into his mind. Swiftly the charger gyrated about and firmly planted his front daggers into the soil. Another jolt of pain zipped through his shoulder, but he was going to have to work through it. The steed’s rump sprung into the air, and launched both hind hooves straight towards the other masculine. Expecting to catch the brute in the chest but it was up for fate to decide where the actual blow will strike, if it lands.

>erebus< Again I felt the twinge of ivories on flesh, but this time they were leaving. So I had been successful in more than one way, excellent. My nape twinged as the warmth spread over both sides of my neck. My narels flared as I my mind connected what it was; my own blood from the wound he had inflicted. I yet again tried to shudder away from him; to put more space and better maneuverability between us, but I reacted far too slow.
He lashed out for my chest, and he collided with it; full velocity. A high caterwaul of pain was torn from my chest; which in turn redoubled the agony that was already coursing through my sternum and ribs. I was positive he'd cracked the bones; if not splintered them. A wheeze accompanied my next inhale as I squared up for the counter blow, only to have my stance falter as I took a large step forward. This wasn't going to work out. My ears dropped backwards; hiding themselves in my tangle of mane.
My teeth ground together as I pushed forward, tearing myself away to only come back in on his opposite side, the heat in my chest intensifying at the sudden jolts around him. Finally I lashed out my muzzle, diving with the rest of my body for a point just above his withers where I wouldn't grab bone, but the soft joint at the base of his neck. My eyes reduced to narrow slits; adrenaline making my vision become cone shaped, with Jericho at the center.

The brute had felt his hind hoofs come into contact with the other male. It was a hard and hollow ‘thud’ that made even Jericho cringe with what pain that would have caused the target. As his hind quarters landed back down on the ground, the dark chestnut went to step off and pull away from Erebus. But the step upon his right forelimb made him stumble as pain shot through the bruised area. Catching himself with the other three legs that still work properly, the bronc managed to stand upright once again.
But it was all in vain. As brown eyes darted towards the sounds of hooves beating away at the ground, he noticed that his opponent was basically on top of him. Ready to bare down upon him with full force, and all teeth. By the time the male thought it wise to move it was too late. Teeth made contact with the flesh just above his withers. A hot searing sensation ran up Jer’s vertebras. This would most likely make moving his neck extremely hard for a good while. With any luck there was no severe harm done. The only way he could see out of this condition now was to go down.
With great care, and as much speed as his injured shoulder would allow, Jericho dropped to his knees. Seeing as Erebus had to be close enough to grab him, he would have no trouble taking a hold of the other stallion. The quarter horse parted his jaws and reached down to the other brute’s legs. Preferably trying to clutch the Superficial Flexor tendon or some other part of the back of the front leg. If the attack worked it hopefully cause the other animal to let go of him, plus add some damage points to Erebus.
Words: 302 Comments: After your post we're done. That would equal three attacks from each of us. ^_^ I've thoroughly enjoyed this and have learned a lot. Thanks and good luck Anntho.

>erebus< I was almost tempted to flinch away from the contact I had made with his body; but I didn't. I let my ivories sink as far past the first few layers of epidermis as would allow before locking the hinges in my jaw to keep them there while my mind worked elsewhere. A mixture of mostly carbon left my expanded narels in a wheezing pant, only to then inhale a nose full of my opponents blood. It took my mind a few moment to click together why I was having trouble breathing out again. I was suffocating myself on accident.
Panic bloomed in my chest behind the already searing pressure of whatever damage he had done to my sternum and other bones in my chest. I might just die because of him after all. I was dwelling on the fact before I was jerked back to reality when I felt a painful pop somewhere in my neck. I realized at that instant that he had jerked himself down onto his knees and brought me with him, cracking the vertebrae in my neck and giving me whiplash. Wonderful. Just as the pain subsided from the whiplash and neck popping I felt the next wave of pain spread across the leg nearest to the chestnut's muzzle. The knee crumpled, the rest of my body fallowing the motion, maybe I'd catch his muzzle in my last attempt. The dust clouded into a hazy fog around us as my the last rays of light died in the sky, bathing us in darkness as I pulled my body away from his.

Jericho VS. Erebus
for LILAC WOODS
overall: Extremely hard to judge, personally, i owuld of given it a tie but that wouldn't solve anything in this situation.
Jericho
attack and response one: nice attack, realistic. nice use of grammar and no spelling mistakes. Nice use of surroundings (nature)
attack and response two: again, nice attack. Good grammar, using different words for body parts etc.
attack and response three: VERY nice post, i liked how Jer dropped to his knees, putting himself at a general risk, but a very clever attack. well done.
Erebus attack and response one: nice use of 'calming' him down. Clever attack. Very discriptive post. attack and response two: nice. your allowing alot of pain to come to Erebus, which is good. A quick attack. No grammar/spelling errors, very nicely written. attack and response three: Again, nice use of surroundings, no grammar / spelling errors. RESULTS Jericho's wounds: Bruised shoulder, makes it hard to move quickly (if he does, could cause permanant damage) - will heal in one season. Bad bleeding from shoulder area for a few days, becomes infected, making him ill for a few weeks, but will heal only to leave a small scar. will be lame on that leg for two seasons. Cracked bone in muzzle-making it hard to breath, blood will trickle for three days but will subside. another blow to his muzzle will result in the bone breaking, causing permanant damage. Erebus's wounds: Big gash on top of neck, gives minor headaches for one week. Will heal but if knocked again could cause worse damage. Cracked breast bone. Could of been fatal, but luckily missed any main veins and organs. Sharp pains in chest, will never run for a long time without collapsing. Damaged tendon in (left?) foreleg; lame for one year, but after that will heal fine. WinnerJERICHO. - this fight was one of the hardest i've ever judged. Well done to both of you, you both had fantastic post, it took me a good hour to decide! I left my decision down to the attacks, and Moxie just clipped it!
