.. -Caesar I'll be your emperor.
My whole being was filled with a happiness I could not describe; I jagged my tail from side to side a little teasing the tiny filly playing with it. I reached out and slowly nuzzled Fayee, she had captured my heart already and I wouldn’t mind watching her grow up. However the feeling was nothing compared to Viva’s smile, I bubbled with joy and sent her one of my rare big smiles back – I was happy. My eyes yet again returned to the playful filly and I laughed, she was so full of spirit and joy it amazed me. Her next question however surprised me are you going to be my new father? I looked up and caught Viva’s look of disapproval and sighed.
“I can’t be your new father, no one can replace your true dad – but I can be your ‘step’ father if you please”
I didn’t want to step in on a sensitive area, the black fae could have lost her stallion not long ago seeing the age of her young filly. My eyes traveled back to the black mare, as she spoke again and I frowned slightly but I didn’t want to push anything and figured, she would tell me, when she was ready.
“Alright let’s go then”
My voice light and gentle, the smile returned as I headed towards the Misty Plains as I had picked. I had visited the place earlier and it had appeared to be a perfect place to start a family, a large clearing surrounded by mostly safe forests, the foals could play in and rolling hills which would be perfect to run and play in also. A small creek ran through the whole place, its clear and fresh water was icy cold and tasted very well. For predators and other dangers, I had seen none when I visited the place – that had been my main concern, when picking a land – if I picked an unsafe land and someone in my herd would get hurt, because of my silly choice – I would never forgive myself.
I trotted lightly through the plains, the lush grass was starting to poke out again after a long winter – and I was pleased with the completely green color it held. I stopped several times to wait and let Viva and Fayee catch up, I didn’t want to tire the little one with a too rushed tempo or too few breaks. When we reached the Centrum of the plains, I stopped.
“Wait here you two”
I asked them with a comforting voice, then set off in a canter towards the nearest hill. My long banner and mane was flowing in the air like silk and my golden pelt were reflected in the sunlight, as I reared up and called out.
“I, Caesar, claim these lands for myself and whoever wishes to live here beside me”
My voice was powerful and demanding, my muscles were tense and ears rotating in every direction listening for sounds of other equines, who might want to challenge me for these wonderful lands – finally I was satisfied no one was coming, so I set in a light trot back towards my two most prized treasures – Viva and Fayee, and they really did shine like pearls standing there in the bright sunlight. My heart swelled with pride as I neared them.
“Welcome to Misty Plains you two”
My tone teasing and gentle then focused my sapphire orbs on first Viva then Fayee.
“I’ve checked the hills and forests earlier for potential threats, I found nothing but plant-eating creatures – so everything should be safe to roam and play in”

The two femmes trotted behind him, but every so often, Faye would join Caeser by his side and try and race him. As they neared the lands, Faye stayed near her mother. She clung to her side, and waited for the return of him, while her mother watched pationtly also. But, when he returned and he said the word play, Faye giggled and started to run round and explore. Viva knew she would be fine so he stayed with Caeser, but maybe he wished to play with her. She trotted slowly and watched her, smiling kindly. She watched him and sighed, this would be a great place. Faye giggled and ran everywhere possible.

As I returned to the two femmes, I cast a smile in Viva’s direction then focused on the little one again. I was more than overjoyed to watch her explore the lands, they would be huge for her at the moment – and empty – my smile faded into a frown. I would love nothing more, but to give the little Fayee a playmate, unfortunately young foals wasn’t something that just hang on the trees, ready to be picked up – no, they came with their mothers – I cast a glance on Viva again - and it was extremely rare to find a lone couple, like these two.
I followed my ‘step’ daughter with orbs full of joy and pride, even though she was ‘alone’ she appeared to be thriving already, that was a good sign. I set in a light trot to keep up with Viva, following her closely side by side, I watched her graceful moments. Slowly but secure I reached for her shoulder and nipped at it gently, nothing that would harm her – just a teasing nip. Shortly after I set off in a fast canter yelling back at her.
“You’re ‘it’ dear”
No one was too old to play tag, especially not lights. I whinnied for Fayee to join in before stopping at a safe distance from Viva, ready to run again.

Faye looked over at her mother, who reared up and charged at her, now, 'step' father. It wasn't aggresive or anything, but playful. Viva took off at a canter towards Caesar and watched him with blackened orbs. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Faye scream at him to run, but Viva turned and ran towards her daughter who jumped up and ran the other way. Viva managed to reach her daughter and nip her rump. She skidded to a stop and laughed as she cantered away, back towards Caeser. Faye smiled and turned round, choosing her target. Caeser would be next. She started off at a trot towards him, then a canter, then almost a gallop. She was aiming for his legs, but if she could get his neck, that would be better. She giggled as she ran along, her mother moving away.

I let out a laugh as little Fayee raced towards me, I knew she would never be able to catch her unless I helped her a tiny bit. I reared up and turned and jumping off on powerful hind legs, then suddenly without a notice I made a 180 turn and galloped straight towards her. I knew she would be able to tag me now, but just to tease her a little bit, I turned off 2 meters before her and set off in a slower canter – one I knew she would be able to catch me in, even with her tiny legs.
“Come on Fayee you’re slow”
I yelled teasingly at the little filly, my dark eyes sought out Viva’s and I sent her an brilliant smile.

Faye laughed as she turned and chased him. She ran along side Caesar and giggled. Who you calling slow?! she screamed and ran her nose across his flank. Viva laughed as her daughter started to get breathless from laughing so much. She knickered across to her and as Faye returned to her side, Viva returned Caesars smile. She looked down at Faye and nuzzled her mane. Faye giggled and looked at her 'step' father. She sneezed and giggled again, running around her mother a couple of times before nursing again. Viva closed her eyes and dozed a little. She opened them again and looked across at her new carer, with once again, a loving desire. She sighed, a smile across her lips and her heart beating quick.

I laughed – a deep soothing rumble – and then stopped my canter and instead reared up and my powerful hind legs. Golden pelt shone brightly in the warm spring sun, and my cream colored mane fell like a wild waterfall across my neck. I landed with a thump on my strong for legs and sent the pair a brilliant smile, then slowly made my way towards them in a casual tempo. Stopping just in front of Viva I watched as the little filly drank, my face light up In a beautiful calm smile again and I let out a sigh.
Foals had always been a soft spot on me, I could not wait for the day, where I – a short glance was cast on Viva – would have foals running around playing, and I would stand watching over them – protecting them with my life from any potential danger. My orbs returned to rest on the proud mother, and the look in her eyes along with the gentle smile that spread on her lips made me ‘blush’ and I lowered my gaze to the ground beneath me – there was no reason to get my hopes up, I had invited this stunning mare and cute foal to my territory to be protected and cared for, I didn’t think that Viva would want anything more so I would keep my distance for now. Once again my sapphire orbs connected with the sky and I sighed.
“I’m hoping it will be a warm good season”

As his eyes connected to that of the sky, Viva's did also. She nodded, she couldn't think of anything to say, but Faye certainly did. Faye had stopped her nursing and payed attention to the stallion. I hate the cold! It's bitter and mean! She said, smiling and looking up at her mother, but because they weren't looking at her and had the nose turned to teh sky, when Faye tried to look, she just couldn't see what they were looking at. She sighed and went back to nursing. Viva smiled at her filly and looked at Caesar. If it is to be a good season, perhaps more foals might spring up. Seeing as the season gets warmer, more mares will be looking for homes. You'll be lucky... she said, quietly. She turned her head to look at her own foal. She would be bored until the time for foals was nigh. She looked back, a dissapointment buried deep in her mind. She was feeling something for this stag that she did not feel for Faye's own father. She couldn't describe it. She could feel her heat beating faster and something tickling her stomich when she looked at Caesar. She smiled her beautiful smile once more and again, turned her head to the skies.

A chuckle escaped my kissers as little Fayee spoke up again, ‘mean’ typical foal word, everything bad for them in that age would be ‘mean’. I studied the filly closer as she looked towards the sky, and appeared to be disappointed when she saw nothing – she wouldn’t know why the adults looked up instead of on each other, but she would learn eventually. My eyes were full of surprise as they connected with those of Viva, she spoke of foals and mares – couldn’t she see I only had my eyes on her like that? Of course if the new mare I met just a little time, after I met Viva would want foals – I would give her one, but I didn’t feel the way about her as I did about this mysterious black mare. The feeling I had for the other mare was the one of protection and care, I’d love her – of course, but it wasn’t the ‘true’ heart stopping love. When I looked at Viva and her amazing black pelt, I felt my eyes soften and my heart beat increase, was that even possible after just spending a couple of days with her? We were the complete opposites in color, she was black and mysterious – a true dark beauty, I was light like the flaming sun above us – my hair was the color of cream and mixed with the sunshine it, it shone like silver. I gathered courage as I asked the next question.
“And what about you? Enough in one foal?”
I locked my sapphire orbs on Fayee again, of course I could understand if she said yes – it was a perfect little filly she had given birth to, and I caught myself wishing that the father had been me. I shook my golden crown and smiled gently at Fayee.

Viva was looking down at her filly, who by the looks of her yawning and tired look, was exhausted with the excitement of the day, when Caesar spoke. Viva looked up and thought carefully about what to say. Then, as one thing came into her think box and qithout time to actually decide whether to say it or not, she blurted it out. One foal is hard work, but every mother wishes for more. She smiled her sweet petit smile and looked back down at the filly who was nudged her shoulder for attention. I'm tired, mother... she said. Viva nuzzled her and looked around. She looked back at Caesar, wordless for the first time. She smiled and looked down at her yawning Faye and sighed.

I slowly walked towards a gathering of trees, as the little filly started to yawn. I stopped under a rather big tree and slowly bucked my legs, laying down under the protection of an ancient ‘creature’ older than any equine could ever live. My orbs focused on the filly and her mother yet again, and a smile light up my features as I spoke with a lazy tone.
“Come rest with me? Fayee seems to need it”
As I waited for them to come closer, the words of Viva echoed in my slender head but every mother wishes for more, was that a hint for something? Or just a comment to suit my curious question? I frowned as I thought it over, the annoyed me greatly that I could not stop acting like a young immature colt. I snorted and lowered my light maw to the grass and nipped uninterested to it, my thoughts would not leave the subject of ‘Viva’ and I damned myself for not having enough patience. My sapphire orbs closed themselves and I relaxed for a bit – never letting my guard down though, you never knew what could lurk around waiting to pounce on relaxing equines, but I knew if it came to that the creature would never reach Viva or the little one before I would be over it.

As the stallion walked away, Faye watched him with sleepy eyes. She didn't hesitate when he asked for them to rest with him. Viva followed lazily, watching Faye collapse next to Caesar. Viva walked round them so she was near his head and lay down, so her head was next to his. Faye was already asleep and her breathing was slow and followed it's own rythme. Viva layed her head down and looked up at the cautious Caesar. She raised her head and eyes him carefully. Are...are you ok? she asked. Her eyes read his and her nose leant forward to touch his. She snorted lightly and blew soft, warm air onto his nose and sighed. She was undeniably happy, and she would be for a while.

I let out a small silent chuckle as Fayee dropped down beside me, she was such a cute baby and my heart already belonged to her. I slowly reached out and nuzzled her gently without waking her up, she was like a little dark angel – I could not imagine her hurting anyone, quite the opposite when she would grow up, I was pretty sure she would be wanted by many stallions and I would make sure she would be safe – not all suitors were equally nice, so it was my role as her step father to protect and make sure, she was safe until a new stallion took over and would protect her.
My eyes flew to rest on Viva as she spoke, she was a whole other case – hopefully there would be no other stallions, and it killed me to think of what mares in herds had to go through, watching their leader with all his mares. I let out a long deep sigh, it would not be easy to lead a herd my heart only longed for one mare truly, but still I had to make room for those to come – they needed protection, love and care, just like little Fayee and Viva here.
“Yes I’m-“
My voice was cut off as her nose touched mine and I blinked several times, I completely forgot what I was about to say and just stared at her. Warm gentle air flew into my nostrils, and I returned the favor gently. Sapphire depths locked onto hers and I watched her closely, was she doing this to comfort me because I was upset? Or?
“Yes I’m fine, I’m more than fine”
I tried to shake the questions out of my head and just focus on the present, it was quite hard.

Viva sighed and took in her surroundings, then she returned her head to look at the shocked Caesar. She smiled once more and looked down at her baby. She lowered her head once more and closed her eyes. With Caesar around, she knew they'd be safe. She took in another breath and raised her head and stared at him. You don't seem fine! I know you wish to take care of both me and my daughter, but now, I'm part of your herd. You can tell me everything... I was sweet toned and kind once more. Faye turned in here sleep, and smiled. She was dreaming once more of her father, her last memories of him. Viva knew what she was dreaming off. She had stayed awake long enough to watch her sleep and toss and smile. Viva smiled sadly and nuzzled Faye lightly. She raised her head again and tossed it to look at him.

My eyes – full of wonder and curiosity – followed the movements of Viva. Her gaze locked on to mine yet again, a gentle smile spread on my lips slowly and I removed my eyes from her slowly. Viva and the filly were relaxing, so I had to be on guard – prove to them that I could and I would take care of them, no matter what happened. I closed my eyes shortly and cursed in my thoughts as Viva spoke, I didn’t want to look like a fool in front of her, so I stared out on the plains as I answered her.
“I’m okay really Viva it’s just –“
I cut myself off shortly and gathered courage, then turned my head and let my sapphire orbs seek out hers.
“Would you stand beside me and be my queen? I won’t force you, its just – I get this tickling happy feeling when I look at you and –“
I cut myself off once again and looked away, if I could, I would be red as a tomato in my head right now. The mighty king of Misty Plains, Caesar – the proud Arabian stallion, embarrassed because he had fallen in love with a mare. I lowered my eyes to the sleeping filly and sighed, what if I had chased Viva away with my question? I would lose both Viva and Fayee then, a cold hand grabbed my heart and squeezed tightly.
